- Graduated from the department of French literature, the faculty of
literature at Waseda University. Joined NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation).Became
the youngest newscaster to anchor the "News Show at 7 o' clock".Hosted
a variety of other programs.
July 1989
- Left NHK to become freelance. Set up her office "K company".
October 1989
- Anchored the "Sunday Project" for TV Asahi and other news
programs. Began her career as a writer with the essay series "Anchorwoman's
24 hours" for the Shukan Yomiuri, a documentary series on in-house
entrepreneurs for the monthly "Dime" of Shogakukan and "Yumemiru
Rialisto" (the idealistic Realist), her first book of essays.
October 1992
- Studied in Paris after receiving an invitation from the European Community
(EC),
- now known as the European Union (EU). Majored in cultural policies
and cultural management at the I.S.M.C. (Institute of Super Management
Culture) and majored in art history at the L'Ecole de Louvre. Opened
two offices in Tokyo and in Paris following graduation. Undertook the
planning and management of several projects by using communication circuits,
including the "Local Mecenat Network" which promotes international
exchange of people and information among the local community.
July 1995
- Elected to the House of Councilors.
December 2000
- Became the Vice President of Sakushin Gakuin.
April 2001
- Entered a doctoral course in Human Environment Science (Biopolitics)
at Ochanomize University Graduate School, becoming the first ever incumbent
member of the House of Councilors to enroll in a doctoral course.
